Its been more than a year hearsay is in the air about the new minivan from the house of Toyota but it seems like the time is near when these bruits will become reality. Toyota seems to be setting out a new hybrid minivan under the name of Prius.

If the hearsays get true then it would be the first entirely new car to get into Prius with an in-house developed lithium ion battery pack. The three-row vehicle, which we can only presume would also have sliding doors, would potentially seat up to seven people, expanding Toyota’s hybrid technology further into the family-use market.

For this time we have no more details on this new minivan. For more updates stay tuned.

The rise in sales throughout the March month has encouraged the company’s overall market share to 10.4 percent, up .4 percent versus the year ago period.

A day or two back in a press conference in Gothenburg, Sweden, Lewis Booth Ford’s executive vice president and Geely’s chairman Li Shufu reached to a final negotiation by means of which they declared to sell Volvo to the Chinese automaker. The final negotiated purchase price came to dead amount of $1.8 billion, which includes some of Volvo’s intellectual property and its other physical assets.

After this declaration from the executives of two companies Volvo is now 100-percent Geely’s asset, and Ford will not taste any sweetness. Ford will keep on supplying the Geely with powertrains, stampings and other systems to Volvo for an undisclosed transition period. Perhaps the most difficult aspect of this deal is the intellectual property situation. Volvo will be granted licenses to use some Ford-owned technology and will have the ability to sub-license some technology to third parties, including Geely.

Li committed to keeping the Volvo brand separate from Geely while expanding its global reach, particularly in China. Li also stated that Volvo would maintain a manufacturing footprint in Sweden.

The sale is expected to close in the third quarter of this year, pending regulatory approvals. Unlike the aborted sale of Hummer, the Chinese government will likely approve this deal since Geely is already in the car business.

If we give a look over the automakers in United States, Hyundai indeed is a strong name for having some of the best marketing efforts of any automaker in the region and Joel Ewanick is the name to whom all the credit goes for promoting the programs like Hyundai’s Assurance program. In February, 2007 Joel Ewanick joined as a vice-president of marketing department at Hyundai Motors America and was responsible for marketing communications and brand development. He supervised a team that resulted in with ideas like Hyundai Assurance, which promises to continue making payments or take a car back if a buyer loses his or her job. Christian Meunier who has been appointed as president of Nissan Brazil is saying Good Bye to Nissan North America and Joel Ewanick is the one who is signing-in for the same position at Nissan.

Ewanick will join Nissan on Monday March 22, and right now Mr. Ewanick will surely be designing some new marketing tactics and magics for this new employer to give it a new brazing name.

Ducati is a long-familiar name in motor-cycle manufacturing class that was established in 1926 by three brothers Bruno Ducati, Adriano Ducati and Marcello Ducati, while Piaggio founded in 1884 is the fourth largest producer of scooters and motorcycles in the world and is the nurturer of Vespa and Moto Guzzi, and also manufactures scooters under its own name. The news of a possible fusion of these two names comes just a week after rumours of a Piaggio sale; rumours that were subsequently denied by Piaggio, although the frequency of them now would suggest some substance. A Ducati-Piaggio merger would create a large Italian motorcycling consortium, of sorts, and could see some serious competition for the Japanese on many fronts – from scooters to superbikes. To get sure whether they are meging indeed or not book mark C n’ G

During an exclusive pre-show event at Geneva Auto Show the Porsche’s President and CEO Michael Macht unwrapped the very new super sports concept car “918 Spyder”. This 918 Spyder concept is a low emissions plug-in hybrid with a split personality. On the ecological side it is capable of 3.0 litres/100 kilometers (94 mpg imp / 78 mpg US) with just 70 grams of CO2 emissions per kilometer. However, on the performance side, it’s driven by a V8 producing more than 368 kW (500 PS / 493 hp) plus three electric motors putting out 160 kW (218 PS / 215 hp). That gives the two-seater a combined power output of 528 kW (718 PS / 708 hp) resulting in a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 3.2 seconds, top speed of 320 km/h (198 mph), and a lap time on the Nurburgring Nordschleife in less than 7:30 minutes, which is faster than the Porsche Carrera GT.

The 918 Spyder concept has a liquid cooled lithium-ion battery, brake energy regeneration, push-to-pass “E-Boost” button for sudden overtaking maneuvers, and four driving modes. They are: E-Drive mode for electric only powered driving; Hybrid mode, which uses both the electric motors and the V8 engine relative to driving conditions; Sport Hybrid mode uses both drive systems, but with the focus on performance; and Race Hybrid mode for hardcore performance running at the limit.

A seven-speed Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) transmission transmists power to the wheels that feeds the power of the electric drive system to the rear axle. The front-wheel electric drive powers the wheels through a fixed transmission ratio.

AutoMD, an absolute and frontal online auto repair resource, has released its Advocacy for Repair Shop Fairness Report, which is giving light on how the top-50 most populated U.S. cities fender-bender the customers and clients when it comes to providing them with fair auto repair cost estimates. In the report, we got to gather some out of the blue results.

AutoMD.com had an unbiased check of over 600 auto workshops in the top-50 Designated Market Areas (which included dealers, independent shops, and franchises like Pep Boys) to measure pricing integrity and quality of work.

The best and worst list was then calculated based on each city‘s rankings for three critical factors, weighted equally:

1. Repair Affordability: The average cost-per-job for that city based on prices quoted by repair shops
2. Price Disparity Range: The percentage variance between the lowest price quoted and the highest price quoted in each market
3. Shop Integrity Factor: The percentage of shops that shifted their original quoted price by more than 5% when presented with an industry standard price estimate

The following picture sounds louder than words. Have a look on it

KIA is ready to drive its very new version of Magentis midsize sedan at the New York Auto Show in April. Optima is another name for the Magentis here in the States. The spy-shots of the next-gen Magentis were shown on different blogs ans sites on internet earlier this month, and the Korean automaker has now seen fit to tease the car with some sketches that “[embody] a bold, athletic and sporty visual energy,” which, unsurprisingly, is not unlike the new Sonata from parent company Hyundai – though we’re sure the Optima will get its own unique look courtesy of designer Peter Schreyer.

KIA also tells that its next midsize machine will be longer, lower and wider than the current car with a significantly longer wheelbase that affords “considerably more space for both people and luggage.” The 2011 Kia Optima will go on sale here in the U.S. this autumn while the European Magentis will hit the market in the spring of 2011.
