GM losing, VW catching exterior designer Sangyup Lee

Few days ago it was GM (General Motors) who grabbed Chris Liddell from Microsoft. But now this time GM has to lose Sangyup Lee, the exterior designer of GM who designed the 2010 camaro, Buick Velite, 5oth Anniversary Stingary Concept and the C6 Corvette.

Lee will take the charge of his new position as chief exterior designer at the Volkswagen next month. Lee’s key duty will be to report to Executive Design Director Jens Manske, and is apparently is charged with ‘inspiring’ the merged design divisions. We look forward to a future of brawny, haunchy, badass VWs, even if only in concept form.
Besides the career as an exterior designer Lee got a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art at Hongik University, where he studied sculpture. He later attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, and graduated with honors in 1999. While at Art Center, he had internships at Porsche and Pininfarina, and worked as a contractor at Porsche for approximately six months upon graduation.
