GM (General Motors) Grabs Chris Liddell From Microsoft Corp.

In a press release yesterday at Detroit, Ed Whitacre, Chairman and CEO of General Motors (GM) announced that Chris Liddell the ex-Microsoft CFO has been appointed as vice chairman and chief financial officer of General Motors (GM) and Mr. Lidell will be responsible for GM’s financial and accounting operations on a global basis and will report directly to me. LiddellLiddell was having the post and seat of CFO for Microsoft Corp. since May, 2005. Prior to CFO for Microsoft, Lidell served for the world’s largest forest products company, International Paper Co., as a CFO and before that he worked on the executive positions in different organizations having big names. Chris Liddell is 51, holds an engineering degree with honors from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and a Master of Philosophy degree from Oxford University in England. He has served as director of the New Zealand Rugby Union and governor of the New Zealand Sports Foundation. He is among the distinguished alumnus of the University of Auckland. Liddell was a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Advisory Committee on Improvements to Financial Reporting.
